About This Rug

This plush little Persian Karaja may be compact in size, but it brings plenty of personality.

The rug opens with a bold, saturated red field, the kind of classic village color that instantly warms up a space. Running through the design are geometric tribal motifs and medallion elements typical of Karaja weaving, giving the rug that strong, confident structure these village pieces are known for.

Woven throughout the design are cool blue accents that cut through the red beautifully, adding depth and contrast while keeping the palette balanced. The interplay between the rich red ground and the scattered blues creates that lively visual rhythm that makes Karaja rugs so appealing.

One of the best features of this piece is the plush wool pile. The rug still carries a soft, cushioned feel underfoot, giving it both visual and tactile warmth — something you don’t always find in older village rugs.

At 2.2 x 3.0, this is the perfect small-format accent rug. It works beautifully in an entryway, beside a bed, in a kitchen nook, or layered over a larger rug when a space needs a little extra color and texture.

Bottom line: small rug, bold character.

The Real Deal

Karaja rugs come from villages in northwestern Iran, where artisans weave sturdy, expressive carpets known for their geometric layouts, vibrant colors, and durable wool.

This rug was hand-knotted using natural wool and traditional village weaving techniques, and like all of our pieces, it is completely one-of-a-kind.

It has been professionally cleaned and is ready for its next chapter.

Once it sells, that's it. There will never be another one exactly like it.

Condition Notes

This is a genuine vintage handmade textile. Minor irregularities and variation are normal and part of what give these rugs their authenticity and charm.

Translation: that’s character, not damage.

Rug Pad Tip

We always recommend a high-quality custom-cut rug pad designed specifically for hand-knotted rugs. A proper pad protects the foundation, adds body underfoot, and helps keep the rug from shifting.

A Little Perspective

Rugs like this weren’t made in factories. They were woven knot by knot on village looms, often by artisans working from memory and generations of tradition.

Who first owned it? Where did it live before arriving here?

We may never know the full story — and honestly, that mystery is part of the magic.

At Rugsnob, we hunt down the good ones — the rugs with real soul, real craftsmanship, and real presence — and pass them along to people who know the difference.

Because once you’ve lived with a rug like this, the mass-produced stuff just doesn’t hit the same.
