Antique Persian Hamadan Rug with Twin Midnight Medallions | 4'9" × 6'2"
ABOUT THIS RUG
Meet Bloodline—an antique Persian rug attributed to the Hamadan weaving region, with the kind of color, wear, and unapologetic personality that only comes with age.
A saturated madder-red field sets the stage for two oversized midnight-indigo medallions packed with intricate florals. Surrounding them is a wonderfully dense mix of angular vines, blossoms, geometric details, and layer upon layer of borders—including a killer ivory-and-dark geometric guard border.
The palette is everything you want from an old Persian rug: deep indigo, brick and madder reds, faded coral, tobacco brown, dusty blue, and warm ivory, all softened by decades of age and use.
Nothing is perfectly straight. Nothing is perfectly matched.
Thank God.
Origin: Persia (Iran), attributed to the Hamadan weaving region
Age: Antique
Construction: Hand-knotted wool
Size: 4'9" × 6'2"
Colors: Madder red, midnight indigo, faded coral, tobacco brown, dusty blue & warm ivory
Design: Twin floral medallions with densely patterned field and multiple geometric and floral borders
WHY WE LOVE IT
Those medallions.
Most antique rugs this size give you one central focal point. Bloodline gives you two enormous, almost-black medallions running down the field—and somehow makes it work.
The result feels graphic without being modern, formal without being precious, and just irregular enough to remind you that somebody actually sat down and tied this thing knot by knot.
And then there's the color.
The reds have mellowed. The blues have softened. The pile has worn differently across the surface. What remains is a palette with depth that a brand-new rug simply can't fake.
They can reproduce the pattern. They can't reproduce the decades.
CONDITION
Bloodline is an antique rug and wears its history proudly.
Expect age-appropriate wear, areas of lower pile, softened color, irregularities in the weave, and other evidence of generations of use. These characteristics are visible in the photographs and are part of what gives the rug its beautifully timeworn appearance.
This is not a pristine rug pretending to be old.
It's the real thing.
Please review all photographs carefully as they are considered part of the condition description.
STYLING NOTES
At 4'9" × 6'2", Bloodline hits one of our favorite antique-rug sizes.
Big enough to anchor a seating area. Small enough to work beside a bed, beneath a coffee table, in an office, entryway, library, or layered over a larger neutral rug.
Our preference?
Put it somewhere clean and modern and let 100-ish years of Persian attitude do the decorating for you.
Especially effective in rooms suffering from an acute case of Too Much Beige.
FINAL WORD
Bloodline isn't interested in matching your room.
It'll make the room catch up.
One antique Persian rug. Two midnight medallions. Decades of character.
Good luck finding another one.
